So refill and re-use, buy big and fill small. Get our 350ml bottles and refill into our 85mm rottles and 20ml tubs. Change from old school fluid shampoos to solid Hair and Body blocks. Small changes can make a big difference. And then if the bottle has reached the end of its life, make sure you wash out its contents and drop it off for recycling!

  • Our bottles, rottles (our refillable tube/bottle) and tubs are made from climate positive sugar cane sourced from sustainably managed Brazilian plantations and manufactured in New Zealand.

We chose sugar cane it is currently the most sustainable material for our products.

General
  • Yes we have designed it specifically to be SPF 30.

In NZ we have some of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. The sun is incredibly strong and can cause sunburn very quickly if not properly protected.

We were shocked to discover that moisturisers or sunscreens with SPF15 can be put in a bottle without needing to have the formula tested? It makes it cheap and easy for companies to say that they have an SPF rating without any regulation or testing, but unfortuately it probably isn't SPF15.

In NZ, and in today's sun, SPF15 is not strong enough for our long term health, so we designed a moisturiser which is SPF30 and tested it like a sun screen. So for all our outdoor athletes they can be sure that they really do have sun protection all day long!

So be confident with your moisturiser and wear our Zoop Base Layer.

  • Yes that bit is crucial for our athletes and community at large. This is designed to be a base layer, the first thing you put on in the morning before you put anything else on.

  • It is not designed like our sunscreen to be water resistant for 4 hours. It is a moisturiser first and foremost (with SPF benefits)! While it is designed to be absorbed by your skin, it will provide protection for a short period in water.

  • Our products have been created to be non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and hypoallergenic and so are pefect for the entire face as well as the body. All our ingredients are intended to protect and nourish the skin. We have formulated our products with plant based formulas so they should sit lightly on your skin.

  • No our formulas have been formulated to be non-greasy and lightweight. White or coloured residues occur with mineral blockers that sit on top of the skin. Our performance products are absorbed quickly so are ideal for pro sports.

  • No our formulas should wash out easily in the washing machine, or by using one of our all-purpose castile soaps.

  • Many sunscreens have 4 hours water resistant written on their bottles.

However, no sunscreen can be guaranteed to last for hours and hours. It will depend on what you are doing and the environment you are in. All medical advice suggests reapplying sunscreen on a regular basis and at least every 2 hours.

While you are allowed to write in NZ and Australia water resistant to 4 hours, in the US you are only legally allowed to write 80 minutes.

Consumer NZ have this to say: "Sunscreen can be sweated, washed or rubbed off, the chemicals may break down over time, and people simply don't apply enough. You should reapply sunscreen every 2 hours."

  • Our product range came out of the desire to have a sun screen which did not cause skin reactions and inflammation using natural ingredients as a base - we call it plant powered! It has been designed for the outdoor athlete, with the natural environment and natural ingredients at its core. Please do look at our ingredients list. It is always sensible to try a bit of any cream in a small spot on the skin first.

  • We have done everything we can to make sure our products are made in the right way. Our products must be sustainable, renewable, non-petroleum based and naturally derived with minimal processing. We use sugar plastic made in a NZ factory from sustainably sourced Brazilian sugar cane for our bottles, rottles and tubs. While at the same time nearly all of the ingredients in our products can be found in the natural environment. The only bit we think provides a challenge is the pump system on our bottles. These are made with traditional plastic, which is why we focus on the Zoop Loop and encourage you to reuse, reuse, reuse…. and then recycle with us if you can’t.

  • For a country with some of the highest skin cancer rates in the world there are very few NZ made options. Most sunscreens come from the US, or Australia. Zoop is not only good for the environment, but good for New Zealand too. Our bottles and formulas are made right here in Aotearoa, reducing your sunscreens carbon footprint and helping to create local jobs.

  • Our formulas have been designed for professional athletes who do not want sunscreen sweating into their eyes. Our fast absorbing formulas are created to minimise any risk of sweating into the eyes.

While our product is made with natural products. It is never sensible to get it in your eyes. If you do try and wash your eyes with water.

  • Our sunscreen combines our botanical ingredients like manuka honey, activated charcoal, seaweed and cucumber with sunscreen actives, providing the SPF boost. It brings nature and science together in a formula which is good for people, the body and the planet.

  • Zoop aims to be the most tested sunscreen on the market. We will test our sunscreens every year. Under current regulations, formulas only ever need to be tested when they are first created and old formulas are regularly used that were tested 10 years ago. We believe this is wrong.

We will test our products every year to ensure that our athletes are fully protected and you can be sure that the SPF rating is accurate.

We currently use Dermatest in Australia and will publish our test results.

  • We estimate that by using a body block rather than a shampoo you are saving 3 plastic bottles and 2.7 litres of water. So body blocks go to the heart of our ethos - 'Tread lightly, leave a big impression'.

  • Our blocks are multi-use and save money as well as save on packaging. We estimate that our blocks could last the equivalent of 3 bottles of 350ml shampoo.

To ensure the longevity of the block, keep it raised off wet surfaces. Check out our 3 piece adventure soap tin to make this happen.

  • We use hydrogenated vegetable oil in our Hair and Body blocks which are a mixture of sustainably sourced plant oils. These may, from time to time, contain sustainably sourced palm oil.
